History
| Organized around 1989 and
incorporated in 1994, the CWVC has members in all areas of Wisconsin,
the United States and even the world! Quarterly meetings are held
in various locations throughout Wisconsin. An activity is planned
with each meeting and has included pheasant and grouse hunting, tracking
and obedience demonstrations, speakers, dog games, and a Vizsla
Fun Day. Annual Fun Days are held where folks chat and eat
and bring their Vizslas (other breeds welcome too) to participate
in fun contests and games like a Weinie Walk, Smooching Marathon,
Longest Point and Fastest Vizsla in Wisconsin. Meetings
may also include a potluck or lunch/dinner at a restaurant. Some
meetings are "bring your Vizslas" and may include demos
of Vizsla-related activities, games and costume contests! |
Functions
| The club is involved in
Public Education, Breeder Referral and Breed Rescue. Though we love
our Vizslas, we also know that it is not the breed for everyone.
Some of our past Public Education activities include placing classified
ads about the CWVC in area newspapers periodically, presenting "Day
in the Field" demonstrations at Gander Mountain (Wausau),
sponsoring and staffing CWVC booths at the Madison
Dog Fair, Milwaukee Pet
Fairs and
the Wisconsin State Fair World
of Dogs; assisting the DNR and WAFTC in their Hunting Dog Seminars
at Bong and Ottawa State Parks, and visiting schools to give talks on
dog care and training. A Mentoring
Program was established in 2005 to to aid newcomers to the
breed, or various aspects of it, to discover the possibilities and
expand the horizons of what Vizslas have to offer their owners and
the community., e.g. Hunting, Therapy, Breeding, Tracking,
Performance Events, etc. |

Published quarterly,
"The
Paw's Print" features articles and interviews covering the many
events and activities performed with Vizslas, funny stories submitted by
members, club notices and event dates, member brags, health updates and
care tips, meeting minutes, and much more.
Our web site
is a comprehensive resource for all things Vizsla, CWVC and dog, as well
as being a site in the Vizsla Web
Ring. A Yahoo!Groups
EMail List facilitates
intra-club exchanges like announcements, inquiries and brags.
