AKC Gazette	The October 2001 issue's "Show Shots" featuring Pontiac Michigan has a photo of Christine Engelsman and Ralph. They also appear in the photo of Vizsla Best in Specialty Show judging on the following page. Here's Christine's story behind the photos: On the 19th of August, the Vizsla Club of Michigan put on their Specialty in Pontiac Michigan. They had a wonderful turn out of great dogs. In the breed ring the competition was rough. As the pressure kept coming Ralph and I kept our cool. After the judge Mr. Larry Berg pointed to Ralph and I, we jumped for joy. I let Ralph carry the ribbon in his mouth, like he always does to show off his terrific win to everyone. After Best In Show, Ralph and I went to take our breed picture. Jill Day came up to my mom and I mentioning that the AKC camera people wanted to get a picture of the Specialty breed winner. I was like "Ya sure go ahead!" Then we started talking with them and Jill said they were from the AKC Gazette and they wanted some Show Shots. Not to mention I was thrilled, and so were the people taking the pictures of my "Superstar" Ralph, who loved all the attention and impressed the camera man. About two to three months later my good friend Amy Batzner said "I love the picture in the Gazette!" I had no clue they had printed the picture in the AKC Gazette. To say the least I was ecstatic to see the picture in the magazine. Thank you very much Jill Day for introducing me to the people from the AKC. And thank you everyone for your support of Ralph and I. And most of all thank you to my Mom, for always being there for me and giving me tips and moral support. I love you!

AKC Gazette Click here for CWVC Story & Photo	*Penny's Two Cents:* The March 2000 issue of the AKC Gazette, which featured a Dalmation on the cover, contained a 6-page article entitled "The Versatile Vizsla". As I read the article and turned to page 50, I was so excited to see a photo of Nancy Schmitt with Rookie in a beautiful "Come to Front" position! I asked her to share her story… I was showing Rookie, CH Starr's New Recruit CDX JH NA, in the Obedience Open class at the Elkhorn show on a very hot Monday. It was probably was two years ago. A photographer had taken several pictures of us and asked me to sign a release because they might use them in an upcoming book about Vizslas. They did in fact use a picture of us in the book. I don't know the name of the book, though (I really should get a copy!) Imagine my surprise to see the picture crop up in the AKC Gazette too!

The "Obedience School Graduate" is holding a newspaper in her mouth while the "Valedictorian" is holding a purple velvet Crown Royal bag. The National Enquirer	March 27, 2001	Excerpts from "Dog Miracles - Inspirational and Heroic True Stories" are printed. The tale about a "10-year-old Hungarian bird dog" protecting its owner's 8-year-old girl from a cougar attack is accompanied by a photo, and sure enough, there's a Vizsla (it must be a computer-enhanced photo since the Vizsla is on point to the cougar, not looking particularly ferocious and protective!) Animal Planet - AKC Nationals	Chartay, a female Vizsla owned and handled by Jack Sharkey, was the first dog ever to become an AKC Quintuple Champion when she completed her Agility Champion (MACH) in June 2000. Home & Garden - Celebrity Home Showcase	I was watching a celebrity home showcase. The opening of the episode featuring movie actress Jill Clayburg showed the narrator and Jill talking and walking around her estate. They were being followed by Jill's dogs: 2 Yellow Labs, a Dal and a Vizsla! As they interviewed the decorator in Jill's living room, who should saunter by but her V!
