The CWVC Rescue is powered by volunteers.

Our Rescue Coordinator will review adoption applications when they are submitted and add the application information into our database. We will reach out to you if a dog within our program might be a good fit for your family.

Rescue is very rewarding work and gives you a chance to give back to the community and help those dogs who just need a second chance in life. For more information or to volunteer, please contact the Rescue Coordinator.

Surrender Your Vizsla

Thinking of Surrendering Your Vizsla?

Surrendering a dog is a very difficult decision to make. There are many reasons that may lead you down this path. We do understand that this breed is not for everyone and there are times when people simply just need some advice on behavior concerns. We have a large membership of experienced Vizsla savvy individuals that are willing to share their knowledge of the breed.

It is important to know that we are a breed-specific rescue. Due to limited funds and resources, we can only accept purebred Vizslas into our program.

Surrendering to a breed-specific rescue has many benefits over a shelter. To name a few, dogs surrendered into our program will go into foster homes with experienced Vizsla CWVC members. In addition, we do work with you to gather as much information about the dog’s history as we can to ensure a successful placement. Please see below for additional information.

About Surrendering a Vizsla:

  • Prior to completing the surrender form, please make every effort to contact your breeder. A responsible and reputable breeder will help find a home, provide coaching for behavioral issues, or take the dog back.
  • Complete the surrender form and provide as much detail as you can about the dog. Our Rescue Coordinator will contact you regarding your Vizsla.
  • We will request all registration papers, health records, and any other paperwork related to the dog be provided to the rescue volunteer at the time of transfer.
  • We also request that all dogs coming into our program be neutered or spayed and be current on all shots, whenever possible.
